What is an Architect?
Architects are responsible for creating designs for new construction projects, alterations and redevelopments. Architects use their specialist construction knowledge and high-level drawing skills to design buildings that are functional, safe, sustainable and aesthetically pleasing.
Architects will be involved throughout the entirety of a construction project, as they may need to adapt their plans due to factors such as environmental factors and budget constraints.
What are the typical duties and activities for an Architect?
From employer to employer the job description of an Architect will vary, however typical duties and activities undertaken include:
Liaising with construction professionals about the feasibility of potential projects
Specifying the requirements for each project
Writing and presenting reports, proposals, applications and contracts
Viewing building sites, proposed locations and client meetings.
Completing planning applications and speaking to legal professionals and local authorities

City Centre Metro Extension
As part of the Wolverhampton Interchange, the West Midlands Metro extension will run from a junction with the existing West Midlands Metro system close to the current terminus at Wolverhampton St. George’s through to Wolverhampton Railway Station. West Midlands Metro will stop at the city’s Bus Station on Pipers Row, before continuing to Wolverhampton Railway Station, allowing easy interchange with other modes of transport. This West Midlands Metro extension is part of an overall investment in the city in excess of £150m and will create 1,500 jobs.
