What is an Architect?
Architects are responsible for creating designs for new construction projects, alterations and redevelopments. Architects use their specialist construction knowledge and high-level drawing skills to design buildings that are functional, safe, sustainable and aesthetically pleasing.
Architects will be involved throughout the entirety of a construction project, as they may need to adapt their plans due to factors such as environmental factors and budget constraints.
What are the typical duties and activities for an Architect?
From employer to employer the job description of an Architect will vary, however typical duties and activities undertaken include:
Liaising with construction professionals about the feasibility of potential projects
Specifying the requirements for each project
Writing and presenting reports, proposals, applications and contracts
Viewing building sites, proposed locations and client meetings.
Completing planning applications and speaking to legal professionals and local authorities

Due to the company being a world leader in researching and manufacturing a range of drugs, this move is expected to bring new jobs and opportunities to the area.
Cambridge South station
Due to be completed in 2022, situated near Addenbrooke’s Hospital, this project will provide access to a major employment site that will support new homes and 16,000 existing and 7,000 new jobs.
