Job Overview:
As a Health and Safety Advisor with five years of on-site construction experience, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety of our employees, subcontractors, and the public. You will work collaboratively with project teams, site managers, and supervisors to implement and enforce effective health and safety practices, as well as regulatory compliance measures on construction sites.
Responsibilities:
Health and Safety Program Management:
-Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety programs for construction projects, tailored to site-specific needs.
-Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards, and develop strategies to eliminate or mitigate risks.
-Continuously update and improve health and safety policies, procedures, and practices in line with industry best practices.
Regulatory Compliance:
-Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, codes, and standards.
-Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance levels and identify areas for improvement.
-Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant regulations and stay updated on changes to ensure ongoing compliance.
Training and Education:
-Develop and deliver comprehensive health and safety training programs for employees and subcontractors, focusing on hazard recognition, safe work practices, and emergency procedures.
-Conduct toolbox talks and safety meetings to reinforce awareness and address specific safety concerns on-site.
-Provide guidance and support to project teams and workers on safety-related matters.
Incident Management and Investigation:
-Respond promptly to incidents, accidents, and near misses, conducting thorough investigations to determine root causes.
-Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence and ensure that lessons learned are communicated effectively.
-Maintain accurate records of incidents, investigations, and related documentation.
Safety Culture Promotion:
-Foster a proactive safety culture by promoting employee engagement, participation, and -accountability.
-Organize safety campaigns and initiatives to raise awareness and reinforce safe behaviors.
-Provide guidance and support to supervisors and site managers in enforcing safety standards.
Requirements:
-Minimum of five years of on-site construction experience with a focus on health and safety.
-Strong knowledge of construction processes, hazards, and best practices.
-In-depth understanding of local and federal health and safety regulations, codes, and standards.
-Relevant certifications
-Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
-Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with the capacity to identify and address safety risks.
-Proven track record of incident management, investigation, and root cause analysis.
-Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
-Proficiency in using relevant software applications and tools for data analysis, reporting, and training delivery.
