Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join a dynamic team of experts in South Yorkshire. The Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for conducting geotechnical investigations, analyzing site conditions, and providing expert recommendations for a variety of projects. The successful candidate will have a strong background in geotechnical engineering, excellent analytical skills, and a proven track record in delivering high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Site Investigation and Analysis:

    • Conduct geotechnical site investigations, including soil and rock sampling, field testing, and geophysical surveys.
    • Analyze site conditions, assessing soil properties, groundwater levels, and geological formations to inform engineering decisions.
  • Geotechnical Design and Analysis:

    • Perform geotechnical analyses using specialized software to assess slope stability, foundation design, and ground improvement techniques.
    • Develop comprehensive geotechnical design reports, incorporating data analysis and engineering calculations.
  • Foundation Engineering:

    • Design shallow and deep foundations for various structures, ensuring stability and compliance with industry standards.
    • Provide recommendations for foundation construction methods, considering soil properties and project requirements.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

    • Identify geotechnical risks associated with projects and develop mitigation strategies to address potential issues.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate geotechnical considerations into overall project planning and execution.
  • Client Interaction and Consultation:

    • Liaise with clients to understand project requirements, presenting geotechnical findings and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
    • Provide expert advice to clients on geotechnical aspects, addressing inquiries and building strong client relationships.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional accreditation or working towards chartership with a recognized engineering institution.
  • Proven experience in geotechnical engineering projects, including site investigations, analysis, and design.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software and tools (e.g., PLAXIS, Slope/W, gINT).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in calculations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective client interaction and technical reporting.
