Civils Estimator

Location: Manchester, Stockport or Irlam

Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 dependant on experience plus package

Summary

An award-winning multi-disciplinary civil engineering company with an excellent reputation for delivering major signalling and OLE infrastructure projects nationally is looking to take on a Civils Estimator join theor growing team to Identify all costs involved in delivering multidisciplinary rail projects and create tender price to meet proposed tender submission and agreed company margins.

Key Accountabilities will include;

- Calculating and preparing tender submissions that provide at least cost, optimal value solution for tenders.
- Determine quantity of work scope to produce accurate and realistic estimates for works.
- Provide cost, budget and pricing schedules to Bid Managers.
- Provide estimates to Project Managers for contract variations and claims.
- Establish likely progress and completion rates.
- Produce contract cost codes, targets and cost breakdown structures.
- Prepare cost breakdowns, subcontract prices and delivery budgets.
- Preparing and submitting quotations, Compare quotes by different suppliers and subcontractors.
- Research the market to identify associated costs of delivering project including materials, labour and plant.
- Calculate final figure for estimated cost to include allowances for overhead and profit margins.
- Support procurement in obtaining best value quotations and pricing.
- Evaluations of options or alternatives.
- Produce high quality written submissions in a timely manner.
- Prepare "take off" materials included in projects.
- Liaise with Project teams on accurate estimates for upcoming projects and potential estimations for any changes within work bank scope.
- Analyse and report on any potential risk within bid documents.
- Report estimations to internal stakeholders and escalate any potential issues.
- Handle all tender queries both internally and externally.

Skills and experience

- Ability to use Microsoft Office suite including use Excel to record and extract information
- Extensive steel and civil estimating experience and will be verse in steel fabrication principles
- Ability to plan schedule and programme several estimations concurrently
- Excellent analytical, mathematical and commercial skills
- Thorough understanding of Civil Engineering
