Assistant Design Manager

Assistant Design Manager required for major civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

Our client is a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering high-profile highways, public realm and structures schemes across the Midlands and North of England. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an Assistant Design Manager to join their team, with a base in Wolverhampton and regular travel to project sites across the region.

This is an excellent opportunity for a design professional with a contractor background who is looking to take the next step in their career and develop within a growing design management function.

Experience Required:

  • Strong design background, ideally from a contractor-side environment

  • Proven ability to read, interpret and review technical drawings

  • Experience managing and coordinating external design consultants

  • Good understanding of construction methods and infrastructure project delivery

  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline (desirable) or equivalent demonstrable experience

  • Full UK driving licence

Duties include:

  • Managing design coordination across multiple civil engineering and infrastructure projects

  • Reviewing drawings, identifying design risks and proposing practical construction-led solutions

  • Liaising with designers and consultants to ensure timely delivery of design information

  • Supporting the Design Manager and working closely with the Assistant Information Manager

  • Contributing to the development and improvement of design management processes

  • Supporting the continued growth and development of the design team

Package & Benefits:

  • Salary: up to £52,000 depending on experience

  • Company car or car allowance

  • Permanent position

  • Full-time hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (8am–5pm)

  • Based from Wolverhampton
