The Technical Manager Role
A leading housebuilder in the Eastern Region is seeking a Technical Manager to join their growing technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Technical Coordinator or existing Technical Manager looking to take the next step in their career with a well-established developer.
Working closely with internal departments and external consultants, the successful candidate will take responsibility for the technical delivery of multiple residential schemes, overseeing everything from planning, regulatory approvals, and working drawings through to site support and final completion.
This is a senior-level role with day-to-day management responsibilities, supporting the wider business including Construction, Commercial and Sales functions, and ensuring that accurate and coordinated design information is delivered on time.
Responsibilities of the Technical Manager:
- Manage and support the internal technical team, providing mentorship and leadership
- Oversee design development and working drawing production for multiple sites
- Coordinate external design consultants and ensure timely delivery of packages
- Attend and lead design and progress meetings with internal and external stakeholders
- Review and approve technical details to ensure compliance with Building Regs, NHBC, and company standards
- Provide support to Land and Planning teams during acquisition and planning stages
- Ensure statutory approvals (NHBC, Building Control, S38/S104) are obtained in line with project programme
- Liaise with internal departments to support smooth delivery from planning to handover
- Monitor technical programmes and report on key milestones and risks
Key Skills & Experience Required:
- Previous experience in a Technical Manager or Senior Technical Coordinator role within housebuilding
- Track record of managing technical design across multiple residential developments
- Strong working knowledge of current Building Regulations, planning policy, NHBC standards and section agreements
- Ability to manage consultants, oversee internal teams and resolve technical challenges
- Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills
- HNC/HND or equivalent in a construction-related discipline preferred
