Our client is a leading engineering contractor delivering infrastructure projects across the UK power and energy sector. Working in partnership with major network operators, they support the delivery of critical infrastructure including substations, cable routes and associated civil engineering works.

With a strong pipeline of secured work across long-term frameworks, the business continues to invest in its commercial team to support the delivery of high-value energy infrastructure projects.


About the Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor you will play a key role in the commercial delivery of power and energy infrastructure projects based out of Runcorn.

You will be responsible for managing costs, contracts and commercial performance across multiple projects, ensuring works are delivered within budget while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal teams. Although working on UK Energy infrastructure projects, it is not essential to have experience in this sector. This role would suit an individual who is confident in managing and negotiating NEC 3 Contracts.

The role offers the opportunity to work on complex infrastructure schemes within a growing sector, supporting the UK's transition to a more resilient and sustainable energy network.


The key requirements for this Senior Quantity Surveyor role are:

- Manage the commercial delivery of projects from initial procurement through to final account
- Prepare and manage interim valuations, applications for payment and final accounts
- Manage subcontractor accounts including procurement, payments and contract administration
- Monitor project costs and performance against budgets and forecasts
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities and report to senior management
- Support contract administration in line with NEC or similar contract forms
- Work closely with project teams to ensure accurate reporting and cost control
- Manage change control processes including variations and compensation events
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and key stakeholders


Experience required for this Senior Quantity Surveyor role are:

- Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or infrastructure projects
- Experience working on power, energy or utilities projects is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts or similar
- Experience managing subcontractor accounts and commercial processes
- Strong financial and commercial awareness
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills


Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Senior Quantity Surveyor role are:

- Experience working on substation or power infrastructure projects
- Experience working within framework contracts
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
- Membership of RICS or working towards chartership
