About the Project Manager role:
The Project Manager will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of structural examination and inspection projects across the rail network. You’ll be responsible for ensuring all works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in full compliance with Network Rail standards and client requirements.
This is a key role within the business, supporting the delivery of multiple ongoing contracts and ensuring smooth coordination between engineering, planning, and delivery teams.
The key responsibilities for the Project Manager role are:
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of railway examination projects (structures, bridges, tunnels, earthworks, etc.)
- Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to plan and deliver works efficiently.
- Ensure all inspections comply with Network Rail standards (e.g. NR/L3/CIV/006) and statutory regulations.
- Prepare and manage project documentation, including WPPs, TBS, RAMS, and inspection reports.
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
- Chair project meetings and provide clear progress reports to management and clients.
- Identify and mitigate risks including access issues, safety constraints, and programme challenges.
- Liaise with Network Rail, local authorities, and third-party stakeholders as required.
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and company health & safety procedures.
- Support continuous improvement across project delivery and team performance.
Experience & Skills required for the Project Manager role are:
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Project Manager within the rail, civil engineering, or infrastructure environment.
- Background in structural or civil inspections or examination projects.
- Strong understanding of Network Rail standards and operational procedures.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and safe systems of work.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable:
- Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- PTS and COSS/SWL certification.
- Experience working in possession or line block environments.
- Familiarity with rail access and planning systems.
Package on offer for the Project Manager role:
- Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 per annum (DOE)
- Location: Stratford, London (office-based, 5 days per week)
