Overview:
This position sits at associate level within the mechanical function and involves leading mechanical design activities across large-scale data centre and mission critical projects. The Associate Mechanical Engineer will act as a technical authority within the discipline, driving quality, innovation, coordination, and sustainability outcomes across a portfolio of live and future projects.

Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage a team of mechanical engineers and designers across multiple concurrent projects.
• Oversee the full lifecycle of mechanical building services design, from concept and detailed design through commissioning and handover.
• Conduct and review HVAC, chilled water, air distribution, and fire protection systems design.
• Drive coordinated design solutions by working closely with electrical counterparts and other disciplines.
• Manage delivery against programme, budget, scope, and quality requirements.
• Perform design reviews, technical audits, and value engineering assessments.
• Oversee commissioning, testing, and handover to ensure mechanical systems perform in line with design intent.
• Implement and maintain QA/QC processes in accordance with CIBSE/ASHRAE standards and relevant regulations.
• Integrate sustainability, energy efficiency, and maintainability considerations into all designs.
• Lead adoption of digital delivery including BIM workflows, data-driven design, and smart building solutions.
• Support proposals, tenders, and client-facing technical engagement.
• Mentor and coach mechanical engineers to support technical development and progression.

Technical Requirements:
• Strong technical capability in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design for large-scale commercial or mission critical environments.
• Proficient in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and mechanical analysis tools such as IES or Hevacomp.
• Strong understanding of CIBSE, ASHRAE, BS, IS, EN standards and local building regulations.
• Experience in energy performance optimisation, heat recovery, and renewable integration.
• Knowledge of BIM workflows and QA/QC frameworks.

Experience & Qualifications:
• 10+ years’ experience within mechanical building services design and project delivery.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
• Chartered (CEng) or working towards chartership.
• Track record delivering across data centre, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or commercial sectors.
