About the Role
You will support the maintenance, servicing and fault finding of locomotives and associated equipment. Your work will directly contribute to fleet availability, safety and performance.
This is a hands on depot based position where you will work as part of a skilled engineering team. You will be responsible for ensuring maintenance tasks are completed in line with company standards, while maintaining high levels of quality, safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain and repair locomotives in line with approved maintenance plans
- Carry out fault finding and diagnostic work across mechanical and electrical systems
- Complete Asset Management System documentation accurately and on time
- Carry out pre use checks on tooling and equipment
- Ensure examination and repair work meets company standards
- Attend safety, quality and technical briefings when required
- Maintain high standards of workshop cleanliness and organisation
- Follow environmental procedures and report any non compliance
- Support depot management with operational requests when required
- Participate in training and competency assessments
Experience Required
- Experience working within traction and rolling stock maintenance
- Strong fault finding and repair experience across locomotive systems
- Engineering qualification, ideally HNC level in mechanical or electrical engineering
- Ability to make sound engineering decisions
- Good written and verbal communication skills
Desirable Knowledge / Skills
- Experience working within rail freight or heavy rail maintenance environments
- Understanding of structured maintenance planning systems
