Summary

One of the UK's largest infrastructure contractor has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Manager to join their Rail Team based in Central London working on projects including HS2.

You will help to deliver a culture of continual improvement, ensuring contractual and regulatory requirements are delivered, providing sustainability and environmental support and advice to the projects and regional teams whilst meeting legal and company standards.

As Environment and Sustainability Manager you will be responsible for:

- Assisting in producing, maintaining & ensuring compliance of the Environmental Management Plans
- Supporting Environmental Management Review and risk & opportunity assessment processes.
- Attending regular meetings and support the construction team in management of environmental risk.
- Identifying possible operational risks or opportunities and work with central HSQE Team to ensure an appropriate and effective response.
- Carrying out or contribute to incidents and complaints investigations
- Site supervision to monitor and record environmental performance and compliance undertaking regular site inspections and audits of construction sites and supply chain operations.
- The review of method statements and other technical documents
- Providing advice, support and assistance to all project personnel
- Contributing to the achievement of the Environmental objectives
- Promoting continuous improvement of environmental performance and best practices.
- Monitor and report Environmental performance and KPI's.
- Coordinating and monitoring data on site.
- Production of reports, meeting minutes and presentation material as required.
- Maintaining relationships with the Client's Environmental Representatives and any 3rd party regarding Environmental matters.
- Producing monthly Project Environmental Performance metric-based reports
- Controlling the operation of the Environmental Management System
- Developing and delivering Environmental awareness training to all employees.
- Development and implementation of the EMS certified to BS EN ISO 14001 accreditation

Technical competencies

- Good knowledge and practical experience of developing, implementing and improving
- Environmental Management Systems compliant with ISO14001:2015
- Excellent knowledge and practical experience of environmental legal requirements and how to comply with them
- Track record of managing environmental assessment and design on large or complex infrastructure/engineering projects
- Experience in managing sustainability assessments, rating and awards schemes for major infrastructure projects in urban environments (such as BREEAM)
- Educated to degree or higher level or equivalent in a numerate discipline, typically environmental discipline (or related).
- Professional membership of an appropriate environmental body (eg MIEMA)
- Appropriate CSCS card type and level.
