Aquatic Ecology Manager

Location: Remote Based

(ideally within 3hrs commute of Wokingham.(inc Midlands, EAnglia, SWest, SEast, SWales)

Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 dependant on experience plus company car or £350/mth car allowance scheme and package.

Summary

The UK's most trusted environmental services partner at the forefront of Britain's water, energy, and environmental infrastructure management is looking to hire a Aquatic Ecology Manager to to lead and help deliver aquatic ecology consultancy services to existing / new projects and provision of ecology support to pollution emergency response and the business as a whole.

Key tasks and responsibilities

- Lead a team of aquatic ecologists to deliver a field survey & reporting service
- Provide ecological technical expertise in support of field delivery teams
- Prepare and review technical reports
- Ensure excellent standards of customer service and technical excellence
- Perform key client account holder role
- Support the delivery of the Water&Ecology Department growth plan through sales and marketing activities
- Help ensure that the Water & Ecology divisional KPI's are met
- Monitor and identify training requirements and plan / implement training efficiently to reduce any disruption to operations and service delivery, to ensure that vehicles and equipment are kept in full & compliant working order, and that non-conformance & health and safety reporting is timely and accurate.
- Continually review operational practices and planning in relation to our ecology consultancy service. Highlight, discuss, present and upon authorisation implement changes as required to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of operations to contribute to the Company's objectives and goals. This includes appropriate selection & use of subcontractors & outsourced materials suppliers if and as required, making use of approved suppliers wherever possible.
- Any other task for which the postholder is capable of undertaking and requested by line or senior management.

Knowledge & experience

- Previous knowledge & experience gained within the ecology and environmental sectors is essential
- 6 years or more experience in technical discipline of ecology
- Educated to degree level in a Biological or Environmental Sciences discipline and experience of providing ecology consultancy services
- Comprehensive technical knowledge and capability in aspects of freshwater aquatic ecological monitoring and a sound understanding of terrestrial ecology
- Experienced at writing & reviewing technical reports
- Experienced at preparing tender submissions a client fee proposal
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, workforce and clients at all levels
- Understanding and knowledge of health and safety at work
- Capable of adhering to strict delivery deadlines; this includes an immediate response at any time
- Chartered membership of a relevant professional body such as CIWEM or IFM
- A full, clean, UK driving licence
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills

Hours of work

Weekly contractual hours are 35 per week, with daily hours being 9am until 5pm, five days per week 1 hour paid lunch break each day. Overtime is available and due to the nature of the duties of this post will be required to occasionally stay away from home overnight.
