Job type: Full time, Permanent.

Our client is an established multi-disciplinary Planning, Civil, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering firm that utilizes a team first, collaborative approach to building engineering with offices in London and Kitchener, providing engineering services to a variety of private and public sector clients across Southwestern Ontario. The firm employs over 100 engineers, engineers-in-training, technologists, technicians, planners, and administrative personnel.

They are seeking a creative problem-solver with a passion for engineering to join our growing team as a Structural Engineer, Project Manager/Lead.

Structural Project Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of structural engineering designs and documents for new-build and renovation projects in multi-residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional market sectors

  • Conducting reviews / investigations of existing building structures and preparing condition assessment reports to document findings

  • Lead projects from initiation to close, including:

  • Serve as the main point of contact with project stakeholders, delivering outstanding customer service and support.

  • Coordinate designs with other disciplines (internal and external) in pursuit of optimal design, constructability, and long-term performance.

  • Review designs and drawings to ensure accuracy, adequacy, and conformance to the applicable codes and standards; seal own work and work prepared by junior team members.

  • Coordinate daily personal and team priorities to achieve project milestones.

  • Provide technical guidance to junior team members.

  • Review and control project budgets.

  • Work within the project team environment from preliminary stages of the design through to completion.

  • Other tasks as assigned by Structural Engineering Manager.

Structural Project Engineer Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering from an accredited Canadian University, or equivalent required

  • Registered as a licensed Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario required

  • 4+ years of experience in Structural Engineering related to design of buildings

  • Experience in the design of reinforced concrete, masonry, steel, and light wood framing for buildings

  • Experience with Provincial and local Municipality design guidelines, the Ontario Building Code, and other applicable Canadian Engineering standards

  • Proficient in finite element modelling software suites (ETABS preferred)

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and AutoCAD suite.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Effective team builder with demonstrated abilities to motivate all levels of staff

  • Commitment to ongoing professional and personal growth; willingness to learn

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization

  • Capable of working on several projects in different stages at the same time

  • Adaptable and flexible to changing priorities
