About the Role
As Project Services Manager you will be responsible for leading a portfolio of service and turnkey projects, ensuring delivery to time, cost and quality targets. You will manage and develop a high-performing team, drive continuous improvement and ensure customer satisfaction through strong leadership and effective resource planning. This is a key leadership role requiring technical understanding, project management capability and the ability to challenge existing processes to achieve efficiency and consistency.
The key requirements for this Project Services Manager role are:

Lead delivery of multidisciplinary service projects to agreed budgets, schedules and quality standards

Provide line management, coaching and development for the Services Team, ensuring capability and competence are maintained

Drive improvements in processes, technology and ways of working to increase efficiency and consistency

Ensure effective planning, forecasting and reporting of workload, milestones and risks
-
Manage capacity issues, assign resources and support accurate business forecasting

Oversee project mobilisation activities including HSQE compliance, method statements, labour planning and tooling
-
Contribute to bids and proposals, ensuring accurate estimating and achievable project budgets

Build strong client relationships and support business development activities
Experience required for this Project Services Manager role are:

Proven track record of leading teams delivering complex engineering projects
-
Strong background in project delivery, including achieving multiple milestones across different programmes
-
Experience of managing budgets, resources and financial performance
-
Excellent communication skills, able to build effective relationships with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders

Strong knowledge of systems integration, vehicle modifications or similar multidisciplinary engineering delivery

Practical/technical engineering qualification
-
Strong leadership in HSQE and safety-critical engineering practices
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, and strong report writing skills

Full UK driving licence and flexibility to work away from home when required
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Project Services Manager role are:

Knowledge of the rail industry, legislation and approvals processes

Experience of rolling stock or rail vehicle modification programmes

Coaching, mentoring and people development experience

Knowledge of performance management and business improvement methodologies
