Senior Planner – Railway Control and Safety Systems

Your Role at a Glance
In this senior planning position, you'll be contributing to a broad range of rail infrastructure initiatives, from new builds to modernization projects. Your responsibilities will include:

Leading planning activities (phases 1–5, and optionally 6–8) for new builds, conversions, and upgrades of railway safety systems.

Managing modernization efforts for signaling systems across various technologies.

Developing technical documentation, including schematics, site layouts, and cable plans.

Coordinating with related disciplines, such as cable route planners.

Preparing detailed reports and evaluations for different planning stages.

Conducting site inspections and inventories of existing installations.

Assisting in project coordination, including tracking costs, deadlines, and resources.

Ensuring all plans comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Supporting interface and integration efforts with both internal teams and external stakeholders—potentially within a BIM environment.

Reviewing and assessing third-party planning outputs in terms of quality, cost, and timing.

Presenting project results internally and to public stakeholders when needed.

What You Bring

A degree in electrical engineering, railway engineering, or traffic engineering—or a technical certification (Techniker or Meister) in a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in LST planning.

Ideally, certified as a specialist planner in accordance with RiL 046.2821.

Strong knowledge of German engineering and construction standards (HOAI, VOB, DB regulations).

Experience in procurement processes and preparing technical offers.

Familiarity with industry software such as AutoCAD, iTwo, and MS Office.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured and reliable working style.

Fluent in both written and spoken German; English proficiency also required.
