Senior Design Engineer

The purpose of this role is to ensure that all activites undertaken by the Design Engineering team achieve the quality and delivery requirements for projects and deliver high levels of customer satisfaction.
Reporting to the Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing the delivery of design work packages required for the successful delivery of rolling stock modification projects.
Key responsibilities for this Senior Design Engineer:
- Responsible for management of delivery of work packages agreed between Design Engineering and other Engineering and Project teams to time, cost and quality.
- Support the design manager with estimating during the bidding process resulting in accurate and achievable project budgets and competitive bids.
- Attend and input design review meetings both internal and external involving customers and stakeholders.
- Progress reporting to project teams for assigned work packages.
- Assist with the development, implement and review process and procedures applicable to the Design Engineering team that meet the current and expanding needs of the business.
Experience required for this Senior Design Engineer role:
- Experience within traction and rolling stock preferred but not essential!
- Working knowledge and an understanding of project delivery in an engineering consultancy environment.
- Experience of working on multi-disciplined complex engineering projects.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with customers, clients and stakeholders.
- High level of IT, written and verbal communication.
- An understanding of 3D and 2D production engineering drawings using Solid Edge CAD package - desirable.
