The Architectural Technician Role:
A well-established, privately owned regional housebuilder based in Yorkshire is looking to appoint an Architectural Technician to join their growing Technical team. The business has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality residential developments and has an excellent pipeline of upcoming sites across the region.
This is a hands-on technical role, ideally suited to an Architectural Technician who enjoys producing detailed drawing packages and taking ownership of house type design. You'll play a key role in the preparation, development and maintenance of working drawings, updating and refining standard house types and producing drawings from scratch for new schemes.
Working closely with the wider Technical and Construction teams, you'll support projects from planning through to delivery, ensuring designs are technically robust, compliant and buildable.
Key Responsibilities of the Architectural Technician:
- Producing full architectural drawing packages from scratch using AutoCAD
- Developing, updating and maintaining standard and bespoke house types
- Supporting projects from planning approval through to construction
- Ensuring compliance with UK Building Regulations and NHBC standards
- Coordinating drawings with structural and engineering information
- Responding to technical queries from site and supporting live projects
Key Requirements of the Architectural Technician
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience as an Architectural Technician (or similar), ideally within housebuilding or residential design
- Strong AutoCAD proficiency
- Proven ability to produce detailed drawings independently from concept through to construction
- Good working knowledge of UK Building Regulations and NHBC standards
- Relevant architectural or construction-related qualification
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
