Project Engineer

As Project Engineer, this role involves the delivery of projects in line with the companies' high standards. Collaborating directly with clients to achieve the required standards of quality, cost adherence and delivered within the correct timescales.
The role's key aims are to develop new client relationships, alongside the maintenance and enhancement of current customers - representing the brand and further improving the reputation of the business. The ideal candidate will need a drive and background which will support the process of achieving these aims. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with clients to understand and achieve the end goals for assigned projects
- Ensure that timescales, budgets and the general scope of work are clear and adhered to. Assessing risks to these aims, with the purpose of preparing and overcoming them
- Checking and approving electrical/mechanical engineering calculations, drawings and reports produce by other individuals within the team
- work with the purpose of ultimately meeting the targets set out by clients
- Provide support in the bidding process - helping to deliver proposals, identifying risks, creating relevant approaches and detailing acceptance criteria
- Carry out project engineering and management duties; both with singular individuals and teams of mixed disciplines, acting as a mentor to more junior engineers where required
Experience required for this Project Engineer role:
- Experience in various areas of rolling stock such as DMU, EMU, freight wagons, coaches and locomotives
- Proven experience on a variety of rolling stock related project management and engineering projects
- Proficiency in the writing of technical reports, accompanied with good knowledge of the UK rail industry as a whole
- A relevant engineering degree is desirable or likewise a chartership of engineering. Candidates demonstrating experience of a relevant level are also open to consideration
- Strong knowledge in areas such as:
Mechanical - (Structures, wheels & tyres, brake systems, hydraulics, power units, bogies & suspension, transmission systems)
Electrical - (Control systems, propulsion systems, protection systems, earthing & bonding, electrical systems such as doors/HVAC, condition monitoring, passenger systems such as information/communication systems)
