Principal Mechanical Engineer

Principal Mechanical Engineer required for a leading consultancy.

Our client is a well-established consultancy delivering innovative engineering solutions across the UK and internationally. They are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their Water & Wastewater team, working with major clients in the UK water industry.

This is an excellent opportunity to lead on complex and high-profile infrastructure projects, while enjoying a flexible hybrid working arrangement (3 days in the office, 2 days from home).

Experience Required:

  • Chartered Mechanical Engineer (or equivalent)

  • Proven experience leading mechanical design delivery on multidisciplinary projects

  • Strong technical knowledge of pumps, blowers, screens, chemical dosing plant and similar systems

  • Excellent understanding of UK design standards and working practices

  • Familiarity with legislation including CDM and ATEX

  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage teams and liaise effectively with clients

Duties include:

  • Leading technical design work to relevant codes and standards

  • Preparing briefs, scopes of work and contributing to bid proposals

  • Managing budgets, programmes and resources to ensure successful project delivery

  • Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams in the UK and overseas

  • Ensuring quality assurance and compliance across all design outputs

Package & Benefits:

  • Salary: £55,000 – £70,000 depending on experience
