About the Company
Our client is a specialist engineering consultancy providing design and engineering services across the UK infrastructure and utilities sector. They work closely with water companies and infrastructure operators delivering wastewater, drainage and environmental projects.
Due to continued growth and investment in water infrastructure programmes, the business is expanding its senior engineering capability to support the delivery of complex multidisciplinary schemes.
About the Role
As a Principal Civil Engineer you will take a leading role in the delivery of civil engineering design across wastewater networks, treatment schemes and drainage infrastructure projects.
You will manage the technical delivery of multiple projects while supporting and mentoring engineering teams. The role also involves building strong relationships with clients and ensuring projects are delivered to high technical and quality standards.
The position offers hybrid working with time spent in the Warrington office alongside site visits where required.
The key requirements for this Principal Civil Engineer role are:
- Lead civil engineering design across wastewater networks and drainage infrastructure schemes
- Manage multiple projects or programmes within a multidisciplinary environment
- Build strong working relationships with clients and key stakeholders
- Manage quality assurance and technical governance processes
- Provide leadership and mentoring to engineering teams
- Support project delivery through planning, coordination and technical oversight
- Resolve engineering challenges and support project teams
- Promote high standards across safety, sustainability and engineering quality
- Support innovation and continuous improvement within engineering processes
Experience required for this Principal Civil Engineer role are:
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Strong experience delivering civil engineering design within water infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and managing project delivery
- Strong understanding of wastewater networks, drainage systems and flood risk management
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Principal Civil Engineer role are:
- Experience coordinating with hydraulic modelling teams
- Experience using Tedds or similar design calculation software
- Reinforced concrete design experience
- Experience designing CSO structures or storage tanks
- Knowledge of UK water industry engineering standards
