Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Greater Manchester
We are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer for a manufacturing client based in Greater Manchester.
Your role as a Mechanical Design Engineer will be to deliver mechanical design outputs (3D models, drawings, Bills of Materials, etc.) that meet company and customer requirements, supporting production, procurement, and operations.
Key Responsibilities for this Mechanical Design Engineer role:
- Create compliant designs considering the full product lifecycle.
- Produce 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
- Conduct risk assessments in line with CDM regulations.
- Attend Design and/ or Manufacturability reviews
- Work with other analysis engineers to make sure designs are developed accurately
- Support theoretical analysis, design reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure quality control and adherence to ISO 9001 procedures.
- Liaise with internal teams and customers; support R&D and change management.
Key Requirements for this Mechanical Design Engineer role:
EITHER
- Minimum HND in Engineering + 5 years of experience in industrial sheet / steel fabrication
- Degree (BEng Hons) in Engineering (Mechanical ideally) + 3 years of experience in industrial sheet / steel fabrication
AND
- Proficient in Autodesk 3D Inventor, AutoCAD, and Vault.
- Knowledge of steel fabrication, BS 8888 standards, risk assessment, and manufacturing techniques.
- Strong understanding of how steel structures manage loads, potential failure points, and performance constraints
- Hold a valid SC Clearance or ability to obtain one
Package offered for this Mechanical Design Engineer role:
- Salary up to £39,000 (depending on experience)
- Monday – Thursday (37 hours 7:00am to 5:00pm)
