The purpose of this role is to ensure that all activities undertaken by the Design Engineering team achieve the quality, financial and delivery requirements for the projects and deliver high levels of customer satisfaction.
Whilst rolling stock experience would be fantastic, I'm extremely open to hearing from candidates within other sectors/companies (rolls Royce, JCB and similar!)
Key responsibilities for this Mechanical Design Engineer:
- Responsible for the production of 3D models, engineering drawings and BOM's ensuring technical, quality and delivery requirements are met whilst ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Develop effective technical relationships with existing and new customers and supply chain partners.
- Support a rigorous approach to estimating during the bidding process resulting in accurate and achievable project budgets and high-quality competitive bids.
- Assist with the development, implement and review processes and procedures applicable to the Design Engineering team that meet the current and expanding needs of the business.
- Develop a teamwork culture within the Design Engineering team ensuring efficient and effective communication with other areas of the company for the successful definition and delivery of work packages.
Experience required for this Mechanical Design Engineer role:
- Experience within the field of Traction and Rolling Stock Engineering Design (preferable) However open to varying sectors/backgrounds!
- Creation of 3D modelling using Solidedge CAD.
- Creation 2D engineering drawings and BOM's using Solid Edge CAD.
- Significant experience within Mechanical Engineering Design and vehicle modifications.
- Project and work package control to time, cost and quality constraints.
- HNC or Degree level education in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical discipline.
