PURPOSE

  • To support the improvement of the Group Health and Safety management system
  • To promote continual improvement with the Group H&S management system
  • Liaison with operating Divisions to align any H&S management systems or processes

KEY PERFORMANCEINDICATORS & MEASURES

  • To maintain the H&S legal register and assist with the coordination of reviews of new or changes to H&S legislation
  • Continually review the health and safety management systems and procedures operated throughout the Group and following appropriate stakeholder engagement amend/improve where required.
  • To undertake appraisals of Group HS management system and identify opportunities for improvement
  • To assess any request for change to Group H&S Documents and provide feedback to Group H&S Manager
  • To support the Group and Divisions during external ISO45001 audits
  • To assist with the identifying and providing appropriate training, awareness and development for staff at all levels to enable them to meet the needs of the business and meet the legislative requirements relating to competence in health and safety in their respective area of operation
  • To monitor the quality of internal training provided by the H&S Department and make recommendations to the Group H&S Manager
  • Supporting the Group Health and Safety Manager by providing the necessary support and guidance to enable all employees to have a healthy and safe workplace
  • Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of the strategic health and safety plan
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of corporate health and safety objectives and targets
  • Promote within the Group the continuous improvement philosophy
  • Contribute information and support to the Group HS Manager to produce Board Reports
  • Provision of competent health and safety advice for employees and supply chain on their duties and responsibilities with regard to health and safety
  • Assist with the assessment of risks to health, safety and well-being and provide advice and guidance on measures and arrangements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Group health and safety policies, procedures or processes.
  • Carry out or provide support with accident / incident investigations as required.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

  • ISO45001 Awareness
  • ISO45001 Internal Auditor
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • Industry background in general construction or civil engineering and Facilities Management
  • Maintain Membership of IOSH
  • Appropriate IT skills
  • High level communication and negotiation skills
  • Information management skills
  • Ability to motivate and influence people
  • Time management skills
  • Decision making and problem solving within extent of personal responsibility
