Head of Rail / Strategic Lead (Railway Batteries and Power Systems)

Location: Stoke on Trent

Salary: £80,000 - £90,000 plus 20% annual bonus and package

Profile

A successful energy storage solutions business who offer a wide choice of cells, batteries and complete solutions for use in both national and international rail services. locomotives and high-speed trains are seeking a Head of Rail to lead the strategic direction and management of the rail division in the UK, by overseeing the sales, project management and marketing functions to achieve the provision and delivery of rail battery solutions for passenger transit projects.
The Head of Rail will consult directly with HQ Germany to enable the achievement of global targets, turnover and order intake objectives and in doing so ensure a timely and quality delivery of Hoppecke products and services.

They are seeking someone with

- Significant/proven experience of the rail and/or industrial battery industry.
- Excellent project management skills, with experience of successfully delivering projects from inception to completion.
- Proven experience of managing budgets, sales and interpreting market trends.
- Experience of leading teams and managing staff resources.
- Good communication skills across all media together with proven negotiating and influencing skills.
- Good working knowledge of all Microsoft products, particularly Excel.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, business or related field

Responsibilities

- To lead and manage the UK Rail Division, including sales, after sales and marketing by adopting a global key account management approach.
- To develop and implement strategies to develop and grow rail business in the UK, securing an increased share of the market.
- To project manage key contracts, ensuring that customer/contractual requirements, timelines and quality standards are consistently achieved.
- To account manage key contracts, ensuring accurate pricing, budget and stock control.
- To work closely with HQ Germany to ensure alignment with corporate objectives and co-ordination of projects/contracts.
- To develop, grow and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders within the industry.
- To represent the UK Rail Division at industry events and conferences with the intent of positioning the business as a leader in the rail battery sector.
