Navartis are currently working to recruit a Mechanical Fitter to join a forward-thinking, well-respected UK rail leasing and maintenance company who are passionate about delivering the best possible service, on time delivery and highest quality to their customers.
They have a record of working with the big names in the rail market, operating out of their depots in the Leicester and Loughborough area.
Due to growth in work load, they are looking for Mechanical Fitters with a heavy engineering background, within freight or heavy maintenance background. Would be advantageous if you possess prior experience with specific units as described below.
Key responsibilities for this Mechanical Fitter role:
- Maintaining Freight locomotives.
- Performing mechanical strip downs and rebuilds.
- Carrying out maintenance exams.
- Refurb, overhaul and repair of bogies, buffers and couplers.
- Using basic hand tools and calibrated equipment.
- Ability to undertake mechanical installation work safely and to specifications
- Following documentation and completing block cards
Experience required for this Mechanical Fitter role:
- Mechanically minded.
- Background of heavy maintenance/freight locomotives
- High attention to detail.
- Demonstrate the ability to read diagrams and schematics.
- Competent with operating hand tools test instruments, calibrated equipment.
- Experience with class 47,57,60,37 and 56 preferred
- Health & safety awareness
- Willing to work overtime if needed
