Role Overview: Full-Time

An established engineering firm with over three decades of industry experience is seeking a skilled professional to join its growing team. Operating as a certified B Corporation, this organisation places a high priority on sustainability, ethical practice, and social responsibility. The company delivers a variety of mechanical and electrical services - both installation and ongoing maintenance - with a customer base spanning educational institutions, public sector facilities, industrial sites, housing, and offices.

In this client-facing position, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting business development and operational delivery. You'll manage your workload independently while ensuring that client communications and internal documentation are handled promptly and precisely. The role demands a solid understanding of operational HVAC systems within active buildings. You will use this knowledge to create detailed cost estimates for jobs ranging in value from £10,000 to £200,000.

 

Main Duties:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the company's full service offering

     

  • Investigate mechanical issues and turn your findings into formal client quotations

     

  • Create accurate cost proposals and follow up on their status

     

  • Maintain clear records in the CRM system throughout the project lifecycle

     

  • Conduct site visits or desktop reviews to assess technical requirements and propose tailored solutions

     

  • Interpret drawings and technical documents to support pricing and scope development

     

  • Prepare material and labour quantity take-offs to inform estimates

     

  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to gather pricing

     

  • Suggest preliminary project timelines in support of your cost assessments

     

  • Collaborate across internal teams to produce comprehensive M&E project quotes

     

  • Share technical knowledge with the wider estimating team

     

  • Work with operations to ensure smooth handover and delivery of secured work

     

  • Maintain supplier and partner relationships to stay informed about current market conditions

     

  • Build strong client connections and identify future project opportunities

     

  • Support ongoing account management

     

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster effective communication between clients, colleagues, and managers, representing the business in a professional and courteous manner

     

  • Oversee progress against key deliverables, keeping your manager informed and highlighting critical updates to relevant departments

     

  • Track performance using KPIs and SLAs and provide status reports to leadership when requested

     

  • Support junior team members through mentorship and sharing best practices

     

  • Strive to meet objectives set by your line manager

     

  • Contribute to departmental efficiency, compliance, and improvement initiatives

     

  • Be based primarily at the head office with travel to project sites as needed

Essential Experience & Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with heating, chilled water, domestic water, and basic gas systems in active buildings

     

  • Familiarity with capital equipment such as boilers, pumps, and chillers

     

  • Minimum NVQ Level 2 qualification in HVAC or a related trade

     

  • Valid UK driving licence with no major endorsements

     

  • Clear criminal background check (DBS)

     

  • At least 5 years of relevant industry experience

     

  • Competence in Microsoft Office and estimating software

     

  • Strong analytical, planning, and teamwork skills
