Summary

A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) to join a reputable highly established Main/Principal Contractor, providing a range of stand-alone or fully integrated services in Civil Engineering, Building, Sports & Leisure, Demolition, Land Remediation/Restoration, and Rail.

The Role

As Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) you will be working within project delivery teams, responsible for managing the design delivery process for both the internal design team and external designers, primarily dedicated to schemes within regional frameworks but also providing support to a variety of multi-disciplinary rail, civil engineering projects in Birmingham and the Midlands.

You will be responsible for managing the engineering process throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with the Project Manager and CRE(s), reporting to the Contracts Manager for the associated project/ programme of works.

You will typically be responsible for:

Providing guidance on design and engineering matters to all stakeholders including the leadership teams.
Manage Contractors Responsible Engineers (CREs) within the business.
Act as the companys representative at industry and client events, for example safety by design briefings, cascading information internally to relevant parties.
Act as the Companys Temporary Works Champion.
Act as Contractors Engineering Manager on projects as needed.
Ensure the communication and implementation of engineering requirements with respect to construction works undertaken by the Company and its Subcontractors
Track the progress and ensure the high standard of designs and engineering management across the company
Ensure the fitness and use of Inspection and Test Plans across the company.
Coach & develop future CEMs and CREs within the business.
The successful candidate will be a Chartered Engineer and able to demonstrate experience of having worked as a Network Rail signed off Contractors Engineering Manager or a Designated Project Engineer.

Candiate Requirements

Ideally aleady approved as a CEM within a (similar) rail contracting organisation & have extensive railway, civils project experience or have extencive expereince of undertaking a CRE role and be at a level of competency to step up with mentorship.
Must be a Chartered Engineer (CEng) with membership to ICE or IStructE
Hold a Degree / HNC or HND in civil engineering
Senior Engineering experience in a multi-disciplinary rail contracting environment.

The role would suit an Engineering Manager or Principal Level Civil Project Engineer.
