Commercial Manager - Rail
Location: Suffolk - Hybrid/Flexible Working

Join as the Commercial Manager Leading a £100m Rail Scheme
Navartis is working in partnership with a major infrastructure contractor to recruit an experienced Commercial Manager - Rail for a multi-disciplinary project worth over £100m. This high-profile role involves Civils, P-Way, and Signalling interface works and will be delivered across both London and the Eastern Region.

As the Commercial Manager, you'll act as the commercial lead on the project and play a key role within the leadership team. You'll work closely with the Project Director and Regional Commercial Lead to manage the project through all lifecycle phases-from early contractor involvement through to final delivery.

Responsibilities of the Commercial Manager - Rail

  • Full ownership of monthly CVRs and associated commercial reporting
  • Represent commercial progress to divisional leadership and project stakeholders
  • Lead and manage the commercial aspects of the £100m+ rail infrastructure project
  • Interpret tender specifications and support the preparation of accurate cost estimates
  • Resolve commercial and contractual issues, applying your knowledge of SCL Protocol and dispute resolution
  • Collaborate across procurement, supply chain, and project planning teams
  • Manage disallowed costs, variation controls, and commercial risk registers
  • Maintain strong client relationships, acting as a key contact on all commercial matters
  • Deputise for the Regional Commercial Lead as required
  • Mentor and manage a high-performing commercial team
  • Promote a culture of diversity, inclusion, innovation, and high performance


What We're Looking For in a Commercial Manager - Rail

  • BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum 8-10 years' commercial experience on complex infrastructure or rail projects
  • Strong NEC / Target Cost Contract experience, including managing audits
  • Proven ability to lead commercial performance across multidisciplinary rail or civils projects
  • Member of RICS or ICES (or actively working towards this status)
  • Experience managing and developing commercial teams in a project environment
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage senior stakeholders
  • Resilient, strategic thinker with a results-driven mindset
  • Demonstrated commitment to mentoring, community engagement, and inclusive team leadership
