Buyer – Housebuilding

Location: Staffordshire (Hybrid – home, office & site)
Salary: Up to £55,000 + £5,000 car allowance
Type: Full-time, Permanent

The Opportunity

I’m supporting a growing, well-established housebuilding business in Staffordshire that is expanding its Buying team due to continued success and a strong pipeline of projects.

This is a genuinely flexible and supportive environment with a great leadership team and a culture built on trust – not clock-watching. You’ll have the freedom to manage your time around life commitments (school runs, appointments, etc.) while being trusted to deliver results. The role offers a healthy mix of home, office, and site working.

The Role

You’ll play a key role in the commercial success of multiple residential developments, managing the full buying lifecycle from procurement strategy through to supplier management and cost control.

Working closely with Commercial, Technical, and Site teams, you’ll ensure materials and subcontract packages are sourced competitively, efficiently, and in line with programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement across multiple live housing developments

  • Source and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors

  • Prepare and issue enquiries, analyse tenders, and make recommendations

  • Place orders and subcontract packages in line with budgets and programmes

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships

  • Monitor costs, budgets, and value engineering opportunities

  • Ensure materials are delivered on time to avoid site delays

  • Maintain procurement schedules and buying reports

  • Support continuous improvement of buying processes and supply chain performance

  • Work collaboratively with site, technical, and commercial teams

About You

  • Experience in a Buyer or Assistant Buyer role within housebuilding or construction

  • Strong knowledge of materials procurement and subcontract packages

  • Confident negotiating and managing supplier relationships

  • Commercially aware with good cost control skills

  • Organised and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Proficient with Excel and procurement/COINS systems (or similar)
