Associate Director - Civil Engineering (Data Centre Infrastructure)

We are partnered with a global multidisciplinary consultancy, seeking an Associate Director to provide technical and strategic leadership across Data Centre infrastructure projects. This role sits within a growing mission critical team delivering projects from early feasibility and site due diligence through to construction support.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced leader to transition into the Data Centre sector, with transferable experience from industrial, energy or complex development projects encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities - Associate Director - Civil Engineering (Data Centre Infrastructure)
- Lead civil engineering delivery across multiple data centre projects, from masterplanning and concept design to construction phase support
- Oversee site due diligence, infrastructure capacity assessments, and coordination of utilities strategies
- Provide technical direction on highways, drainage, levels strategy, earthworks, and enabling works packages
- Review and approve technical outputs, ensuring compliance with relevant UK and international standards
- Manage project risks, programme interfaces, and commercial performance
- Act as a senior point of contact for data centre clients, supporting relationship development and repeat business
- Present technical solutions to clients and key stakeholders
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated design delivery
- Support bids, fee proposals, and framework submissions
- Mentor and develop senior engineers and project managers
- Support recruitment, succession planning, and team growth
Experience & Background - Associate Director - Civil Engineering (Data Centre Infrastructure)
- Ideally 8-10 years in engineering consultancy enviroments
- Strong background in mission critical infrastructure projects
- Experience delivering projects from feasibility through to construction
- Client-facing experience with the ability to manage key accounts
- Commercial awareness including fee management and resource planning
- Chartered status (CEng)
Technical Expertise across: Site appraisal and due diligence, Drainage and flood risk strategy, Highways and access design, Earthworks and levels strategy, Utilities coordination, Construction phase technical support
