The Architectural Technologist Role
An established and growing architectural practice based in central Manchester is looking to appoint an Architectural Technologist to join their team. This role will focus on supporting a major national retail client, making it an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical skills and a keen interest in retail-led design.
The successful candidate will be working in a collaborative team environment with access to excellent training and support, delivering fast-paced, technical retail projects across multiple sites. A hybrid working model and modern office setup are also part of the offer.
Responsibilities of the Architectural Technologist:
- Assist in the delivery of retail projects from design development through to technical stages
- Produce detailed construction drawings and working packages using AutoCAD
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure design and technical coordination
- Support with planning compliance, technical detailing, and client specifications
- Respond to technical queries and help resolve on-site and project-stage issues
- Attend project meetings and contribute to ongoing rollout work
Key Skills & Experience Required:
- 2-5 years' experience in practice, ideally within the retail or commercial sectors
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential)
- Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and construction detailing
- Ability to manage and prioritise tasks across multiple projects
- Clear communication and organisational skills
- Revit experience beneficial but not required
