Senior Test and Commissioning Engineer

An opportunity for a Senior Test & Commissioning Engineer to join a market leader in rail, being the largest supplier of railway signalling control system solutions in the UK. The role will require UK wide travel and site-based working and I am looking for candidates who ideally reside close to either York or London.


You will be reporting to the T&C Manager, undertaking testing and commissioning tasks of rail fixed telecoms projects across the UK within agreed timescales and within budget.

Key responsibilities for this Senior Telecoms Test & Commissioning Engineer role:


- Supervising fixed telecoms test and commissioning engineering activities to deliver system development and implementation, including sub-contractors and test equipment.
- Undertake the role of Testing in Charge (TIC) on Fixed Telecoms Projects.
- Reporting T&C task progress and status.
- Support estimating for engineering projects and tenders with regard to test and commissioning engineering resources, plans, technology, risk and process.
- Ensure the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and work instructions are applied throughout the test and commissioning engineering life cycle.
- Checking that all plant and equipment required to be safety inspected, maintained or tested is currently certified and that site records are kept.

Experience required for this Senior Telecoms Test & Commissioning Engineer role:


- HNC/HND or equivalent in relevant subject.
- IRSE License in relevant category (Telecoms Testing).
- Proven experience in Telecoms Tester In Charge (TIC) role for Safety Related Telecoms and Operational Telecoms projects.
- An engineering background with previous experience in a relevant Fixed Telecoms T&C engineering environment.
- Knowledge of BS7671 17th Edition wiring regulations desirable.
- Full Driving license.
- Network Rail PTS / Individual Working Alone / Controller of Site Safety competency.
