Our client is a specialist engineering consultancy providing technical advisory and design services across the UK water, utilities and infrastructure sectors. The business supports major water and wastewater programmes, delivering engineering expertise across the full project lifecycle from feasibility through to commissioning and optimisation.
Due to continued growth across the water industry and increasing demand for specialist process engineering expertise, the organisation is expanding its engineering capability to support a growing portfolio of treatment, infrastructure and environmental improvement schemes.
About the Role
As a Senior Process Engineer you will play a key role in the delivery of process engineering design across water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will provide technical process expertise to support feasibility studies, process optimisation, outline design and detailed engineering design. The role also involves collaborating with project teams, supporting engineering delivery and engaging with key stakeholders across water infrastructure programmes.
This position offers flexible hybrid working with the opportunity to support projects across the UK water sector.
The key requirements for this Senior Process Engineer role are:
- Provide process engineering expertise across water and wastewater treatment projects
- Undertake capacity assessments of treatment works to identify performance improvements and future demand requirements
- Develop process design deliverables including mass balances, P&IDs and control philosophies
- Support feasibility studies, outline design and detailed engineering design
- Produce technical reports based on engineering calculations and site data
- Participate in technical workshops and hazard studies including HAZOP and HAZID reviews
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions
- Engage with stakeholders to support the development of engineering solutions
- Support commissioning and optimisation activities during project delivery
Experience required for this Senior Process Engineer role are:
- Degree qualified in Process, Chemical or Environmental Engineering
- Strong experience working within water or wastewater treatment projects
- Experience producing process engineering deliverables including mass balances and process calculations
- Experience contributing to multidisciplinary engineering projects
- Strong technical report writing and analytical skills
- Experience engaging with project stakeholders and engineering teams
- Membership of a relevant professional institution or working towards chartership
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Senior Process Engineer role are:
- Experience conducting HAZOP, HAZID or similar hazard studies
- Knowledge of water industry regulatory requirements and treatment processes
- Experience supporting site optimisation and commissioning activities
- Experience assessing environmental and carbon impacts within engineering solutions
- Practical site experience including sampling or process testing
