My client is a well established and growing consultancy operating across the UK and Irish rail and infrastructure markets. As the business continues to evolve and expand its footprint, they are looking to appoint a Senior Business Development Manager to play a key role in shaping and driving their next phase of growth. This is a senior, commercially focused position suited to someone who understands the rail industry inside out and can operate comfortably at both strategic and delivery levels.
The Role
This is more than a traditional BD role. They are looking for a commercial leader who can help influence strategy, build sustainable pipelines, and drive meaningful revenue growth.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and executing business development and commercial strategy
- Identifying and securing new work opportunities across the UK and Ireland
- Leveraging existing industry relationships while actively hunting new prospects
- Driving growth across target clients, frameworks, and strategic partners
- Working closely with senior leadership on how the business moves forward
- Supporting and influencing the wider commercial team
- Opening doors, positioning the company effectively, and converting opportunities into secured work
About You
You will be a credible, senior commercial professional with a strong track record within the rail sector.
You will likely bring:
- Extensive rail industry experience (consultancy, contractor, or client side)
- A proven background in business development, commercial leadership, or senior BD
- Experience operating across both the UK and Irish markets
- Strong strategic thinking alongside a hands on, delivery driven approach
- The confidence to engage at board, director and senior stakeholder level
- A hunter mentality, combined with the ability to nurture long term relationships
- A deep understanding of how to win work, grow accounts, and drive revenue
This role would suit someone who has previously operated at Senior BDM, MD, Commercial Lead or Business Development Director-type level, and is looking for a role where they can make a real impact.
