Safety and Reliability Engineer

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Plan, coordinate and execute all tasks required to achieve project safety milestones.
Work with the project team, collect the evidence and build the project Safety Case.
Interface with internal or external Safety Assessors and coordinate the collection of evidence required for the achievement of the system safety certification.
Develop system safety plans and prepare all activities required to provide assurance that the signaling subsystems, and the integrated system, satisfy their safety requirements, in accordance with the company procedures and applicable safety standards (e.g. CENELEC norms).
Identify system/subsystem hazards, perform hazard analysis, including PHA, SHA, SSHA, IHA, FMECA, FTA and OSHA. Establish and maintain the project hazard log.
Identify and review the system/subsystem safety requirements, against the intended environment and intended use.
Ensure that the tasks performed by the project team (including design, verification and test) are performed in compliance with internal company processes and applicable safety standards.
Review the system/subsystem implementation (hardware and application software) against the respective safety requirements to ensure these are fulfilled.
Provide a recommendation on the suitability of the signaling system/subsystems for intended use, from a safety standpoint, and indicate any application constraints as appropriate.
Ensure all hazards are recorded in hazard logs, any non-conformities are addressed, and all hazards closed out in an appropriate manner through elimination or risks control/transfer measures.


Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Math
Working experience as an Engineer, preferably in conducting safety analysis.
English and German at a fluent level


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the Rail Industry.
Experience with CENELEC, IEEE, and/or ASCE standards.
Experience with version control tools.
Experience with hazard identification and analyses (FTA, FMEA, PHA, SHA, SSHA, IHA, OSHA), safety architectures and CCF Analysis.
Knowledge of Requirement engineering: requirement management and requirement traceability, configuration management, and hardware and software design.
