Quantity Surveyor

Job Description

Looking for a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a growing civils remediation contractor, delivering complex brownfield and enabling works schemes across the UK. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects involving land remediation, ground improvement, and environmental compliance.
 
The right individual will have experience with the following Quantity Surveyor responsibilities; 
Commercial Management
- Manage project costs from tender stage through to final account
- Prepare and maintain budgets, cost plans, and forecasts
- Monitor project performance and ensure profitability targets are achieved with regular updates to client and PM's
- Identify and manage commercial risks, particularly relating to ground conditions and scope changes
Procurement & Subcontract Management
- Procure and manage specialist subcontractors
- Negotiate subcontract terms and ensure appropriate risk allocation
- Administer subcontractor payments, variations, and final accounts
Valuations & Payments
- Prepare and submit interim valuations to clients
- Assess subcontractor applications and certify payments
- Manage project cash flow and financial reporting
Variations & Change Management
- Identify, price, and negotiate variations and compensation events
- Maintain accurate records to support claims
- Manage change effectively under forms of contract such as NEC contracts
Cost Reporting
- Produce monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
- Forecast final account position and margin
- Report on commercial performance to senior management
- Work closely with operational and environmental teams to ensure accuracy in costings
- Manage costs associated with waste classification, disposal, and compliance
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or remediation
- Strong understanding of commercial management and contract administration
- Ability to manage change, risk, and uncertainty effectively
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
 
Desirable

- Experience with a similar civils / remediation contractor, with a background of delivering complex brownfield and enabling works schemes across the UK.
- Degree Qualified / MRICS 
 

Package for this position
- £60-£75k depending on experience
- Car allowance (circa £575 a month)
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Subsistence allowance and expenses paid
- Pension contribution up to 6% employer
- Private Healthcare, Death in Service and Wellbeing contributions i.e. gym memberships
- Annual pay reviews taking place in March
