Freelance Project Manager
Locations: Hull/Goole

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in National Grid infrastructure projects to lead and manage ground investigation works associated with major overhead power line developments as part of the UK's Great Grid Upgrade programme.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile project delivering critical infrastructure that will support the UK's transition to a more sustainable energy network.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of ground investigation (GI) works for overhead line projects.
Manage site investigations including boreholes, trial pits, geotechnical surveys, and environmental assessments.
Ensure compliance with National Grid standards, specifications, and project requirements.
Oversee contractors, subcontractors, and specialist consultants.
Manage project programmes, budgets, risk registers, and reporting requirements.
Coordinate with landowners, local authorities, and regulatory bodies.
Ensure all works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with CDM regulations and industry best practice.
Support the development and delivery of enabling works for transmission infrastructure projects.
Essential Requirements:
Proven Project Management experience within the National Grid, transmission, or major utilities sector.
Demonstrable experience managing ground investigation works for overhead line, transmission, or linear infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of geotechnical investigations and site characterisation processes.
Knowledge of National Grid procedures, standards, and project governance.
Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and contractors.
Excellent communication skills.
Full UK driving licence.
