A global leader in public transport infrastructure specialising in the mass transit and rail sector are looking to expand there team in the UK by recruiting an experienced Environmental Consultant.

The Principal Environmental Consultant will be working on high profile infrastructure projects such as Crossrail and HS2 based in our Birmingham office with remote working.

Main Duties:

Working in collaboration with our designers and contract partners, the Principal Environmental Consultant will be involved in a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:

- Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary environmental inputs for a major development project
- Programming of assessments, further site surveys, watching briefs and organising specialist
- assessments as and when required for renewals and improvement schemes and studies. Ensuring tasks are correctly priced and seeing through delivery on time and to budget.
- Maintaining and constantly improving the environmental assessment procedure to increase effective information transfer throughout the scheme's delivery process.
- Identification of environmental issues relating to schemes + conception and implementation of appropriate mitigation.
- Manage and coordinate preparation of EIA screening and scoping activities, Environmental Statements including the technical review of specialist chapters
- Liaise with clients, internal and external supply teams
- Work in partnership with other members of the Environmental Team, delegating activities to staff as applicable
- Work with design teams to ensure that environmental considerations are being considered.
- Manage and coordinate business development activities for the wider Environmental team
- Coordinating resources and reporting across multiple locations.
- Input into design/optioneering, assessment, consenting and approvals during construction and delivery of projects.

Experienced needed for the Principal Environmental Consultant Role

- Degree in a relevant environmental subject
- Membership of a relevant professional body ie IEMA, CIEEM (ideally chartered)
- Strong practical experience of working on all stages of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
- Experience of multi-disciplinary environmental coordination, ideally on large infrastructure projects
- An appreciation of a range of technical environmental matters.
- Experience in developing scope of work for environmental studies.
- knowledge and experience of the UK planning system and consents processes.
- Experience of assembling Environmental Statements and reviewing specialist inputs.
