The Role

As Health & Safety Manager, you will lead and promote a positive safety culture across multiple construction projects and office locations. Working closely with operational teams, you will ensure compliance with current legislation, company procedures and industry best practice while driving continuous improvement in health, safety and wellbeing performance.

This is a strategic and operational role, providing guidance, support and assurance to project teams from pre-construction through to project completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and development of the company's health, safety and wellbeing strategy.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews across live projects.
  • Provide practical advice and support to site management teams, subcontractors and senior leadership.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Monitor legislative changes and ensure policies, procedures and systems remain compliant.
  • Support the preparation and review of risk assessments, method statements and construction phase plans.
  • Deliver health and safety training, toolbox talks and awareness initiatives.
  • Produce performance reports, analyse trends and recommend improvement measures.
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams to promote best practice and behavioural safety.
  • Support external audits and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies where required.

Candidate Requirements

We are keen to speak with experienced Health & Safety professionals who have a strong construction background and a proactive approach to safety leadership.

You will ideally possess:

  • Previous experience in a Health & Safety Manager position within construction.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and industry standards.
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or NEBOSH Diploma.
  • Membership of IOSH (GradIOSH or CMIOSH preferred).
  • Experience conducting audits, investigations and compliance reviews.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to influence and engage teams at all levels of the business.
  • Full UK driving licence.
