Job Description

Job Title: Rail Health & Safety Advisor

Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire / Site Based

Salary: £38,000 - £49,000 per annum dependant on expereince plus car / allowance & package

Start Date: ASAP

Company Information:

Working with an established and experienced railway infrastructure contractor who have a successful track record of delivering projects across the whole of the UK; working with Network Rail, London Underground as well as light rail and tram operating companies.

Working on an £80m railway upgrade scheme.

To be suitable for the position you must have;

- 3 years+ experience in an H&S role in the rail / construction sector
- Previous experience of working in the construction/rail industry is an
- essential requirement
- Possession of a PTS and CSCS Card.
- Have working knowledge of both rail and construction interfaces and
- practices.
- Hold a level 3 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent (NEBOSH General).
- Must hold full UK driving licence

Desirable

- NEBOSH Diploma
- Degree in a relevant subject.
- Understanding of Safety Management systems.
- Internal Auditing experience (ISO 9001 /45001 etc)

Role Information.

- Proactively promote H&S best practice and established accident & incident
- prevention strategies throughout the managerial/supervisory/workforce levels
- (including contractors) across the Group as directed by the Senior
- H&S Manager.
- Work with the managerial/supervisory teams across the Group in the
- implementation of H&S standards and procedures necessary to ensure
- compliance with the Railway Safety Certification & Principal Contractors / Rail Plant Company Operating licenses, ISO standards, current applicable legislation and other client requirements.
- Provide professional H&S advice, coaching, mentoring, training and education to
- management/supervisors/workforce and contractors where identified as necessary.
- In conjunction with managerial and supervisory staff manage and close out all
- associated investigation recommendations and remedial actions arising from
- accident & incident investigations. In addition assist in the management of
- investigation recommendations and remedial actions as directed by the Senior H&S Manager.
