Freelance: Design Manager / Senior Design Manager
Location: Leeds - Hybrid
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Initial period of 6 months
Rate: £425-£500 per day
Pay Method: Outside IR35
We are seeking an experienced Freelance Design Manager to support the delivery of a refurbishment project based in Leeds.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and technically strong Design Manager with experience managing projects through multiple RIBA stages and driving design delivery on a complex refurbishment scheme.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate the design process across relevant RIBA stages

Lead coordination meetings and manage design programmes

Review and manage technical design information

Ensure design compliance with client requirements, statutory approvals, and buildability

Identify and resolve design issues to maintain programme and budget

Support procurement and construction teams during pre-construction and delivery phases
Requirements
-
Proven experience as a Design Manager on refurbishment or fit-out projects

Strong understanding of RIBA work stages and design management processes

Experience working with contractors or consultancy teams

Excellent coordination and communication skills

Ability to manage fast-paced project environments
-
Relevant construction/design qualification preferred
