Our client is a specialist engineering consultancy delivering design and technical solutions across the UK power and energy sector.
Supporting projects across grid connections, substations, renewable energy and network infrastructure, the business works closely with clients across IDNO, DNO and wider energy markets. With a growing pipeline of secured work and continued expansion, they are looking to strengthen their design team with the appointment of a Senior Electrical Design Engineer.

About the Role
As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer you will support the delivery of high voltage electrical design across a range of power and energy infrastructure projects.
The role will involve design and technical oversight across grid connections, substations and network reinforcement schemes, with particular interest in candidates who have experience within IDNO or DNO environments.
This position would suit someone with 132kV design experience, although engineers with strong 11kV or 33kV design capability and a desire to develop further will also be considered.
The key responsibilities for this Senior Electrical Design Engineer role are:
- Deliver electrical design for high voltage infrastructure projects
- Prepare and review design calculations, drawings and technical specifications
- Support the delivery of substation and grid connection design schemes
- Ensure designs comply with relevant DNO, IDNO and industry standards
- Provide technical input across feasibility, detailed design and delivery stages
- Support design assurance and technical review processes
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams
- Support junior engineers and contribute to technical development within the team
Experience required for this Senior Electrical Design Engineer role are:
- Proven experience in electrical design within power and energy infrastructure
- Experience working within IDNO or DNO environments
- Strong experience in HV design, ideally up to 132kV
- Engineers with strong 11kV or 33kV experience will also be considered
- Strong understanding of electrical design standards and industry specifications
- Experience producing technical calculations, drawings and design documentation
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Senior Electrical Design Engineer role are:
- Experience supporting grid connections or renewable energy projects
- Familiarity with protection and control design
- Chartered status or working towards professional accreditation
- Experience using power systems analysis or design software
