We are seeking a highly motivated M&E Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team delivering cutting-edge data centre projects. This is an exciting opportunity for an M&E Design Engineer to work on mission-critical infrastructure in a fast-paced and technically challenging environment.
This is an outside IR35 contract position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work on high-impact projects.
As an M&E Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of mechanical and electrical systems for data centres. While previous data centre experience is preferred, we welcome candidates from related sectors such as healthcare, pharmaceutical, power generation, and oil & gas.
Key Responsibilities for the M&E Design Engineer
- Develop and deliver mechanical and electrical design solutions for data centre projects
- Produce detailed design drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated design delivery
- Support project delivery from concept through to completion
- Ensure all designs meet industry standards, regulations, and client requirements
- Conduct site visits and provide technical support during installation and commissioning
- Assist in value engineering and design optimization initiatives
Requirements for the M&E Design Engineer
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
- Proven experience as an M&E Design Engineer or in a similar role
- Experience in data centres is preferred but not essential
- Background in healthcare, pharmaceutical, power plants, or oil & gas industries is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of building services systems and design principles
- Familiarity with relevant design software and tools
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
