Commercial Manager

Job Description

We are seeking an ambitious, highly motivated Commercial Manager to work on infrastructure commissions for clients including HS2, Network Rail, Transport for London and Highways England. This role would involve site/office visits to Gatwick Airport on a hybrid working pattern

Applicants should be experienced in delivering major infrastructure projects, with a background in aviation, heavy and light rail, utilities and/or other civil engineering delivery. Knowledge and experience of NEC3/NR contracts suite is desirable as well as experience with Oracle.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Commercial Manager to join a market leading consultancy and work on large scale Rail Projects.

Key responsibilities for this Commercial Manager role:

As a Commercial Manager you will lead and influence the commercial function of the business across various Eastern rail projects, The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to support project leaders in maintaining high standards of service delivery in a challenging and fast-moving environment, while achieving successful outcomes for our clients.

This role offers a real opportunity for future development, and the candidate will bring a proactive approach to learning through capturing and sharing knowledge across projects.

Responsibilities for the successful candidates will include:

  • Delivering and ensuring accurate commercial and cost management advice and reporting to our clients.
  • Commercial lead or support on multidisciplinary projects, ensuring the successful delivery of projects, and commissions.
  • Setting objectives and priorities whether working independently or as a proactive team player.
  • Effective communication to ensure all information is available for the successful completion of projects/commissions; liaising with other managers to ensure efficient financial control.
  • Undertaking service delivery whilst maintaining autonomy within their role, not requiring constant supervision or guidance.
  • Delivering all work outputs in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Providing commercial management support to the broader project team.
  • Developing strong collaborative relationships with client and clients' supply chain staff that will support the achievement of project goals.
  • Stakeholder management including negotiating and corresponding with clients.
  • Reviewing contract terms and conditions and the identifications of risk and solutions.
  • Representing the company in a professional and diligent manner.

Qualifications required for this Commercial Manager role:

  • Relevant educational background including degree or apprenticeship.
  • Chartered status/professional institution membership (CICES, RICS, ICE, etc), qualified or working towards qualification is desirable.
  • 10 years' experience in relevant sectors is desirable.
  • Technical delivery experience gained within civil engineering projects.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Confident and effective client-facing and communication skills.
  • Well-organised, diligent, assertive and commercially astute.
  • A team player with a proactive attitude.

Package offered for this Commercial Manager role:

  • Day rate negotiable based on experience. Outside IR35.
  • This role follows a hybrid working pattern.
