This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Commercial Manager to join a market leading contractor and work on large scale Rail Projects.

The company are an approved Network Rail tier-one Principal Contractor. They deliver end-to-end design and build signalling, power and communications solutions across the UK Rail infrastructure.

As a Commercial Manager you will lead and influence the commercial function of the business across various North London rail projects, supporting the Programme Manager and Head of Commercial, providing robust commercial understanding and decision making.

You will lead and manage a team of commercial staff dealing with pre-contract and post contract design and build multi-discipline rail projects from concept to completion and build a positive working relationship with all stakeholders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Assist the Head of Commercial with fulfilling the company commercial objectives within Pre-Contract, Post-Contract and Procurement functions.
- Reviewing contract terms and conditions and the identification of risks and solutions.
- Liaising closely with the Pre-Contract team to understand the scope of works and using this information to assess the risks the terms have on individual projects.
- Negotiation of terms and conditions with clients and supply chain.
- Commercial lead on multidisciplinary major projects, with a portfolio value of over £60m.
- Experience of working with fixed price and target cost contracts. (NR9/NR12).
- Prepare Budgets, Forecasts, Business Plans, Periodic Reports and KPIs for Senior Management Team.
- Optimise contract turnover and profitability for all contracts.
- Production of monthly reconciliations of contract performance on all contracts.
- Ability to lead on dispute resolution and claim handling.
- Manage and develop commercial professionals working within the team, ensuring that robust training and development plans are in place.
- Build and manage effective supply chain relationships.
- Build and maintain professional working relationships with the Client(s) to enable open and honest discussions creating win-win solutions.
- Create a cash flow forecast, revised monthly, for both client and internal stakeholders.

Who are we looking for?

The following are mandatory requirements:
- Experience managing NEC forms of contract.
- NR9/NR12 contractual experience.
- Minimum 5 years Commercial Management experience.
- Experience in Rail, Telecoms and Signalling.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Works collaboratively and uses influence to gain results.
- Degree qualification.
- Inspires, challenges and motivates others.
- Experience in taking the lead in settling disputes and claims.
- Experience with delay management.
- Value for money mentality.
- Full driving licence.

Package offered for this Commercial Manager role:

- Day rate negotiable based on experience. Outside IR35.
- Hybrid working pattern available.
