Buyer - Civil Engineering
Location: West Midlands
Salary: £45,000-£50,000 plus package

About the Role
My client is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Buyer for their office in the Midlands.
The successful candidate would work closely with the Commercial, Estimating and Project teams and will be responsible for sourcing materials, plant, subcontractors and services.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive Buyer who understands the civil engineering industry and is confident managing suppliers and negotiating commercial terms.
Key Responsibilities

Source and procure construction materials, plant, equipment and services.

Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.

Negotiate pricing, payment terms and delivery schedules.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.

Place and manage purchase orders in line with project requirements.

Monitor material availability and ensure deliveries meet programme requirements.

Identify opportunities for cost savings and improved procurement efficiencies.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:

Previous experience working as a Buyer within the civil engineering industry.

Strong knowledge of construction materials, suppliers and procurement processes.

Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

A commercially focused approach with strong attention to detail.

The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Good IT and Microsoft Office skills.
