Assistant Estimator
Location: Birmingham office - 3 days in office / 2 days from home
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 plus car allowance

The Opportunity..
Due to a significant period of growth, an established main contractor is looking to appoint an Assistant Estimator to work from their Birmingham office. This is an excellent opportunity for a ambitious individual to work on a varied range of projects within the building sector for public and private sector clients, ranging from £1m to £40m in value.
The successful Estimator will play a key role in supporting the pre-construction team, taking responsibility for preparing accurate and competitive estimates under the guidance and supervision of a Senior Estimator.
The Role..
- Assisting in the preparation of tender submissions and cost estimates.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents.
- Carrying out quantity take-offs and measurements.
- Sending enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers.
- Obtaining, analysing and comparing quotations.
- Assisting with pricing schedules, bills of quantities and tender documentation.
- Supporting the preparation of budgets and cost plans.
- Maintaining accurate tender records and databases.
- Liaising with internal departments, clients, consultants and the supply chain.
- Attending tender meetings and occasional site visits.
- Assisting with post-tender queries and negotiations.
- Supporting handovers to delivery and commercial teams following contract award.
Key Requirements..
- 1-2 years previous experience as an Estimator with a main contractor.
- Proficient in the use of estimating software such as Conquest.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work within a fast-paced team environment and work to deadlines.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel
- Educated to a high standard in a relevant subject (Degree / HNC/D).
