Assistant Estimator - Construction
Location: Shropshire (Flexible Working Available)
Salary: Up to £45,000 + Package
A well-established construction contractor based in Shropshire is looking to appoint an Assistant Estimator to support its growing preconstruction team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their estimating career within a business delivering high-quality projects across the leisure sector.
The Role..
Reporting directly to the Preconstruction Manager, you will play a key role in the preparation and coordination of competitive tenders. You'll be involved in both new build and refurbishment schemes, primarily within the leisure sector, including hotels and care homes, with project values ranging from £5m to £15m.
Key Responsibilities..
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and tender submissions.
- Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate pricing.
- Support the enquiry process and liaise with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Help build up cost plans and tender returns.
- Contribute to value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
- Maintain and update cost databases and historical records.
- Work collaboratively with the wider preconstruction, commercial and delivery teams.
About You..
- 2-3 years post grad experience in estimating or quantity surveying.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Good understanding of construction methods and materials.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and/or another estimating software.
- Ambitious, detail-oriented, and keen to progress your career.
