Section Engineer - Tunneling Works

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Section Engineer to join a main contractor and work on Hinkley Point C.

The company are major tier one contractor with the Power & Energy sector and your role would be to assist the construction Manager to enable the construction of the tunneling works at HPC.

For this role you MUST be willing to work shifts, these shifts are seven days on 10 hour shifts, three days off, seven nights on 10 hour shifts four days off. With shift work you get a 42% uplift on your salary paid monthly. 

Key responsibilities for this Section Engineer role:

  • Ensuring works are carried out within approved Method Statements.
  • Works are carried out to the required tolerances and QA documentation.
  • Supervise and coordinate the works.
  • Ensure Engineer completes inspection and test plans as required by the Project Management Plan/Specification, including checks of dimension accuracy and quality.
  • Input tunnelling construction data into the Tunnel Information Management system and liaise with the client representatives to ensure hold points are ‘signed-off’ accordingly.
  • Have an appreciation of procedures governing how we manage risk.
  • Be aware of the effect of risk on the programme and financial outcome of the project.

Experience required for this Section Engineer role:

  • Hold a valid CSCS card.
  • Strong up to date technical knowledge of tunnelling construction and industry best practice in all aspects.
  • Minimum of an HNC in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Understanding of Government legislation and Company policy on all matters relating to safety and environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction procedures and working methods.
  • Understand specified tolerances for work activities in progress.
  • Ability to interpret drawings correctly and check for error.

Package offered for this Section Engineer role:

  • Salary up to £45,000 + car 
  • Subsistance of £11,800 per year tax free 
  • 42% Uplift for shift work paid monthly
